Several academic events related to Azerbaijani culture and science have already taken place in Latvia. We offer you to look at some of the brightest events!

  • In 2009, the second reviewer of the previous Azerbaijani Ambassador Roman Alijev's book "Azerbaidžānas vēstures līkumainie ceļi" ("The Winding Paths of Azerbaijan's History") was Latvian historian Dr. Dzintars Ērglis.

  • In 2022, the Latvian National Library hosted the presentation of the book "Šuša – Azerbaidžānas pērle" ("Šuša – The Pearl of Azerbaijan"), published in the Latvian language as part of the "Year of the City of Šuša", announced by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This first joint project is the result of cooperation between scientists from Latvia and Azerbaijan.

  • From 2022 to 2023, the Gulbene Regional Museum of History and Art (Gulbenes novada vēstures un mākslas muzeja) exhibition "Divi Jūliji" (“Two Julies”) was on display at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum in Baku, which was the first carpet museum in the world and which houses the world's largest collection of Azerbaijani carpets.

  • In 2023, the conference "Latvijas-Azerbaidžānas attiecības: no pagātnes tagadnē nākotnei" ("Latvian-Azerbaijani relations: from the past to the present to the future"), organised by the University of Latvia, ADA University (Azerbaijan) and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Latvia was held in the Small Hall of the University of Latvia.

  • Interesting fact: Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, President Republic of Latvia (1999–2007), is a Co-Chair of the Nizami Ganjavi IC and President of the Club de Madrid.
