For those interested in religion, we suggest looking into Islam in Azerbaijan, e.g. Azerbaijan’s Sufism, as well as other religions, such as Zoroastrianism in Azerbaijan or Azerbaijan’s ancient tradition of Christianity. In the context of culture and art, we invite you to look into miniature art (e.g. from Tebriz) or Caucasian Albania’s historical culture.
For those interested in biographical research, we suggest perhaps looking into intellectual giants such as poet Nizami Ganjavi, poet Imadaddin Nasimi and the outstanding cultural worker and poet Khurshidbanu Natavan. For a more comprehensive list of prominent Azerbaijani cultural figures, contact the organising committee.
Let us remind potential participants of the opportunity to use the resources offered by the Azerbaijan Information Centre at the University of Latvia Academic Library.
IMPORTANT: The organising committee of the conference has at its disposal the translations of a number of works by Nizami Ganjavi and Fuzuli, as well as the magnificent library of the late professor Dr. Jānis Ešots, whose specialisation was Islamic philosophy and Sufism. The library also covers several adjacent fields with both philosophical and Oriental focus.
If you need any assistance, e.g. consultation and/or help with finding necessary literature for your research, feel free to contact our team within the organising committee: azconference2024@gmail.com.
